The Lord Mayor's Show

Well done to the students from the Sanders Draper School who took part in the Lord Mayor's Show on Saturday 10th November 2007. The members of our Signing Choir worked with students from The Albany School to present new songs at the same time as parading through the streets of the city.

They were on one of the floats sponsored by The Jack Petchey Foundation. The BBC 1 presenter said that this was his favourite float. Well done to all.

School Council Response

Dear Students,

As you are aware, OFSTED have recently visited our school. As members for the School Council, we believe that as a school we should have achieved higher standards than the findings of the inspection.

Firstly OFSTED did not visit the many 'highlights' of the school. For example, observe all of our lessons and did not visit the all important Ecology Centre. Additionally, they did not visit any assemblies which we feel are a splendid way for teachers to connect with students and inform students of most recent news and events.

As a school, we work together and take pride to make Sanders the very best and we do not feel that OFSTED gave us the opportunity to show off our school.

We are determined, in the future, to change this and prove that Sanders Draper is an excellent school.

As members of the School Council we expect all students to play the ... Read More »

OFSTED Response from Head teacher

The OFSTED Inspection took place over two days (25th and 26th April 2007). A number of different meetings were held with staff, students, the Senior Leadership Team, the School Improvement Partner and Chair of Governors.

The inspectors judged the overall effectiveness of the school to be satisfactory. The inspectors acknowledged the good work that is taking place to improve standards but, as the impact of this work cannot be measured yet, they were unable to reflect it in their grading. However, it is reflected in the text of the final report and this provides a useful assurance that we are doing the right things.

Quotes from the INSECTION REPORT

"Standards have been maintained and are at the national average. There are areas with higher than average standards such as the proportion of students who achieve 5 A-G passes at GCSE and in some subjects".& ... Read More »

For the third year in a row the pupils and staff involved get together as a book group and chat about books on the shortlist of potential winners.  We, like the judges decide which one we think is the best.  It has been nicknamed the doughnut eating book group - because when we meet it involves novels and nibbles!

Sanders Draper this week donated their  old redundant computers to the charity Computer Aid. The charity takes old computers, monitors etc and refurbishes them. A spokesperson for the school said "It is our small way of giving something back. The charity refurbishes them and then  ships them out to third world countries."

We as a school are privileged to have up-to-date computer equipment in our school.
