Dear Parents and Carers,

At this time we know that you will be giving serious consideration to a choice of secondary school for your son or daughter. This process is often a difficult one and we hope we can help you to make the best choice for your child.

Our school will be open to prospective students and their parents on Thursday 18th September, from 6.30pm onwards. We hope very much you will be able to attend. Our Open Evening is exceptionally well attended so please allow time for parking following our stewards’ instructions.

In order to accommodate all our guests, the Head Teacher will give three identical talks at 6.45, 7.15 and 7.45 p.m.

These sessions are very popular, therefore, guests are requested to be seated in the Main Hall ten minutes before the start of each talk. A transcript of the Head Teacher’s speech will be available in our information pack.

We request that you enter the school by the main entrance where there will be information desks and programmes for the evening.

Guided tours will be available following the Head Teacher's talks and at other times in the evening. If you prefer you may wander freely. All parts of the school will be open.

Staff and students will be available to answer questions and guide you around the buildings.

An Information Room will be staffed throughout the evening by Senior Staff, Parents, Governors and LEA Officers, who will be pleased to answer any of your queries about admissions to The Sanders Draper School and any other questions you may have.

Student Numbers
Currently we have 947 students on roll and we have been oversubscribed for the last thirteen years. The 2008 intake is 192. There is now a waiting list for admissions during the year.

We are now able to take students from most areas of Havering and out of Borough.

Ofsted Report
Our recent Ofsted Report is on the DfES website www.dfes.gov.uk and the School Profile is published on Parents Centre.gov.uk

Attendance
We are proud of our high standards of attendance and punctuality. With above national average figures, we are amongst the best schools in the country.
Examination Results
We are keen that ALL our students achieve their very best. We have special support programmes both for very able students and for those who find academic work a challenge. We aim to enter every student for public examinations. Last year our SATs results in English were 76% level 5 and above, Maths 80% level 5 and above and Science 73% level 5 and above, 1/3rd of the year group in Maths gained a level 7 or 8. At GCSE 62% of students gained 5 or more A*-C passes with 53% of students gaining 5 GCSEs in English Language, Maths and two Sciences. Students in Year 9, 10 and 11 were fast tracked and took GCSE examinations early. Two students completed their AS level in Maths.

Uniform
All students wear our uniform. To make purchase easier for parents we have our own Uniform Shop, with very competitive prices, which is unique to The Sanders Draper School. All orders are usually placed through the school.

We look forward to meeting you.
